EXAMPLE DIALOGUES

“On The House”

(Quest dialogue)

Drunkard: Ooooh, woe is me! *hic* The misery! *hic* The horror!
Arthur, the Royal Advisor: Spit it out! What happened?
Drunkard: The greatest inn in the whole of Lirandel, Comfortably *hic* Numb, just got closed because of the monsters!
Arthur, the Royal Advisor: How about you do something with your life?
Drunkard: But I don’t want to. I enjoy things more when they’re… fuzzy.
Drunkard: Listen, I’ve got a tremendous idea.
Drunkard: I can help you guys build a new highly profitable inn *hic*… if ya’ll promise me a big ollll’ discount.
Arthur, the Royal Advisor: What use could you possibly provide?
Drunkard: I’ve been in Comfortably Numb everyday for the past twelve years, I memorized the layout! Haha!
Arthur, the Royal Advisor: *sigh* Alright, we could use a new source of income, tell us everything.

“The Fourth One Stayed Up”

(Quest dialogue)

Ariadna, the Witch: Oh, I, the poorest wretch of all. Of house bereft, hungry, cold. Help thou me, help me, lord!
Royal Knight: Poor? You ate a child a week ago.
Ariadna, the Witch: Let’s not dwell on the faults of past. I shall not eat flesh, I’ll rather fast!
Ariadna, the Witch: Why this change, you might avow? My stomach churned, a bitter toll…
Royal Knight: Okay, okay, spare me the details! What’s the other problem?
Ariadna, the Witch: Some foul beasts my home did seize, repel them now and bring me ease!
Ariadna, the Witch: Let barracks rise and then with might, we’ll banish them and set things right!

“I Need A Hero”

(Quest dialogue)

Royal Guard: Where has everyone gone? Shouldn’t there be fanfares and such? Something’s not right…
Scout: Wait, someone’s coming.
Peasant: Oh thanks gods for your arrival, m’lord! The dark times have come to Lirandel!
Royal Guard: What happened?
Peasant: T-the portals! Spawning all sorts of evil creatures! Lirandel isn’t safe anymore. We need your help!
Royal Guard: What portals? Calm down, peasant.
Peasant: Wow, that was unnecessary. I’m not wearing a fancy armor or a luxurious coat so I must be a peasant, right?
Royal Guard: Umm… I’m sorry. So you’re not a peasant?
Peasant: Well… No… I am. But that’s besides the point. You royals always assume instead of asking.
Royal Guard: Weren’t you in danger of great evil or something?
Peasant: Nevermind, I don’t feel like talking to you anymore.
